Christopher was born in Sussex UK.
He studied the violin at Dartington College of Arts with Peter Carter, and at Guildhall School of Music (London) with Eli Goren.
Christopher was a professional violinist in London for over twenty years playing with many of Britains leading ensembles including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players and English Sinfonia.
In Australia Christopher was appointed Director of the Regional Conservatorium of Music on the Central Coast of NSW. He held this position for over a decade during which time the Conservatorium developed a comprehensive youth and community ensembles programme as well as a professional concert series attracting international and Australian artists.
In 2012 Christopher moved to the Newcastle Conservatorium where he was cohort leader of strings and also appointed Conductor of the University Orchestra, a position he held until 2016.
In recent times he retains his position as Conductor of Opera Hunter in NSW, has conducted at the South Australian State Music Camp and the Residential Summer String Camp (Tasmania), and became well known to many young Tasmanian musicians as Chief Conductor of the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, a position he held from 2020 to 2023.
